8 Weeks Old

Reed is a big 8 weeks old. He is such a happy boy now that his wonderful medicine is working. He started holding his rattle for short times, it is too cute. He went to Piper Rose's 1st Birthday party at the water park on Saturday and then came home and watched football with Daddy while Mommy went shopping with Shannon.

What a week

Hi all, I am writing as Reed is actually sleeping. He has continued his poor little fussy self. I took him to the Dr. on Wed. and the Dr. thinks he has acid reflux. She started him on some meds. and we will see if those are helpful. I sure hope so, he is really feeling yucky. She also mentioned for us to start using his Bumbo seat, so we gave it a whirl the pictures describe what happened to a T. I had to add the other picture, because it is my favorite look, A HAPPY BABY. (I don't see that look much these days, so I enjoy the few I do get.) Oh and he weighed 10.8 lbs. He has also gained several new rolls this week. Smiles and pulling out my hair, Katie

7 Weeks Old

Big Smiles

Big smile, almost a laugh.

Reed is 7 weeks old. This past week was a bit of a challenge with the little man. He has become so aware of his surondings that getting him to go to sleep during the day is hard. So napping was not his forte this week. Hopefully this time period has passed. Reed went to his first wedding reception on Friday, and was the hit of the party. We didn't do much else this week due to the fact that I didn't think people would want to be around us in our fussy state.

Now a note about Reed's PJ's. The pj's that Reed is wearing in these pictures I bought in the Fall of '05 before we were even trying to start a family. I was out shopping and of course couldn't pass them up with all the doggie bones on them. I hide them in my bedside table from Nick, becasue I was going to use them as part of the surprise for Nick when I was prego. (But that didn't happen) As most of you know it was a long time before we did become pregnant, so these Pj's had began to haunt me. Every time I saw them I was reminded that we had no baby. At times I was going to get rid of them, but then would hold on to them anyway. And I am so glad I did. SO now 3 years later they are being worn by our angel. I just had to share this, because he is about to out grow them and they will once again be put away. (Until his brother or sister gets to wear them).

Reed Rolling Over

6 Weeks Old

Reed is 6 weeks old. Today we took Reed to the doctor again. (Because we are new parents and worry about everything). Well the big news about the apt. is that he weighed 9.6 lbs. That is right he gained 1 pound and 3 onces in 5 days. On the way to lunch we stopped and took some pictures in the sun flowers at Shelby farms. They were much prettier before the rain we had last night, but it was still fun. Oh and a sleep update: Reed slept for 2 five hour sets last night, yeah! Enjoy the pictures of the HUGE kid.

Playing in the buff!

Reed has been spending a bit of time in the buff everyday. It is his favorite part of the day. I get the most smiles and happiest baby during this time. He will play on the floor of the bathroom in the buff for an hour before he has had enough. I lay down a blanket and turn on the space heater. I also put his chair that plays music and lights up by him. He kicks his legs and has the best time. So here are some pictures of his favorite times. You will notice all the happy faces, even a smile or two.

Splish Splash!

Splish, splash Reed is finally taking a bath. Reed finally got his first bath this week on Thursday. We had to wait until now due to his umbilical cord hanging on for dear life. Nick and I were very excited about the bath. We had hoped that it would be calming to him and provide us with another tool on those lovely fussy evenings. So the bath went something like this. "Screaming, screaming, screaming, (into the water) SILENT & CALM". It worked. He loved it. He is for sure a Mommy;s boy to love his bath. So hopefully we can add this to our bedtime routine for a good night. Oh and he slept for 5 1/2 hours that night. Enjoy the pictures.
"Oh my this feels nice."
"Look how happy I am."
"Mommy is a great scrubber."
"Hemi I am o.k., Mommy is holding me tight."

Reed is a BIG boy!

Reed and I both went to the Dr. on Monday. He had to go have his belly button checked on, because the umbilical cord had still not fallen. Dr. Higg put silver nitrate on it, and poof it was gone the next morning. YEAH! He weighed 8.3 lbs. He is growing like a weed. He has now outgrown 2 sleepers. So sad. He has also started to smile at us a bit. I will hopefully get a picture of this soon, but you never know when one will pop up. Enjoy the pictures. KatieReed and Dr. Cyrus ( she delivered him). He is screaming at her just like he did last time he saw her at delivery. Ha ha !
Reed and I playing on the floor. Right before Nick took the picture he had just pooped all down my leg as he sat on my lap. Oh yeah motherhood.

Snug as a bug in his fighter pilot chair. He is getting to big, check out the cheeks.

Newest Sycamore Lion

Dr. Butler and her new grand baby
Aunt Lisa Lov'n on her baby.
Today Reed went to school. He was so excited to meet all the people who were talking to him for 8 months. We spent the whole afternoon at the school. I had originally just gone to have lunch and then go, but to say the least I was there until 4:45. (Just like in the olden days.) Reed and I helped the teachers get ready for school next week. It was great for me to get OUT of the house and talk to GROWN ups for a change. A part of me really wishes I was at school preparing my own classroom. I just love what I do soooo very much. I will miss my co workers and the kids so very badly.
